Student Ministry

Middle School & High School

Wednesday Nights from 6:30-8pm

Join us for activities, Bible study and small group discussion.
Bring your Bible, a friend and prepare to grow close to Christ.

Our aim is to disciple students in God’s Word so that they will become mature believers, living wholeheartedly for Christ. Our model is a little different than many churches in that we integrate parents as part of the student leadership team and as support through building relationships. This allows the students to be more embedded in the body of the church as a whole, fostering continued engagement after they graduate.

You know how, when you were a small child, you were taught the holy Scriptures; and it is these that make you wise to accept God’s salvation by trusting in Christ Jesus. The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone.”

2 Timothy 3:15-17

GROW IN KNOWLEDGE

Sunday Core Class

Join us at 9 am on Sundays (6-12th grade) as we dig deeper into the Word using the Gospel Project, ask questions, and learn how God’s Word, though written thousands of years ago, is applicable to each one of us in our day to day challenges.

Bible Study

The Oak Grove Student Ministry is a place where teenagers can wrestle through the theology you’ve been teaching them at home and have it reinforced in a powerful and personal way under the guidance of a youth leader who knows how to ask great questions and point teens to sound truth. This should result in teens knowing and owning their faith on a deeper level.

Community

In an age of bullying, gossip, slander and hatefulness, young people need other young people who can lift them up, encourage them and challenge them in all the right ways (Hebrews 10:24-25). We encourage teens to build biblical relationships that will stand the test of time as they navigate the ups and downs of the teen years.

Leadership Development

While parents are called to be the primary disciple-makers of their own teenagers, they also need other godly adults to reinforce what they are learning at home! Student Ministry Leaders look for those who show leadership potential and disciple them to their next level of age-appropriate leadership.

Discussion Groups

We recognize that the age span between a 6th grader and a 12th grader can present some challenges when it comes to applying God’s Word to their individual circumstances. Because of this, we at times provide age specific discussion groups for more focused application.

Faith & Reason

The Oak Grove Student Ministry is a place where teenagers can ask tough questions and even share doubts and struggles about their beliefs without fear of rebuke. Skilled youth leaders take questioning teens back to God’s Word as the source of authority and help them process through difficult circumstances with biblical truth.

Serving/Missions

Being followers of Jesus means more than learning about how Jesus loved and served others, but it is also about applying that knowledge to everyday life. Serving is a way to allow teens to practically apply the gospel in tangible ways, putting others needs ahead of their own and looking for ways to be a blessing.

STUDENT MINISTRY

Purpose

Raising up wholehearted followers of Jesus through the modeling, teaching and application of God’s Word.

For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, so that you may have great endurance and patience, joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:9-14
